What Are We Thinking? (2016)
Wire, styrofoam, acrylic paint, gesso, tissue I investigated the three parts of the human personality- the id, ego, and superego- and how our acts of discrimination spring from those three parts. I established my piece to show that our unconcious mind, which operates on the idea that every impulse should be satisfied immediately, is existent in every human mind because of our natural instinct to discriminate and categorize. However, our ego and superego control these desires because many of us learn that violently expressing discriminative attitudes is immoral.
