Bathroom for the Visually Impaired (2016)
Watercolor, marker, and pen on paper Since volunteering at a summer camp for children with special needs during the summer after my freshman year of high school, my dream has become to use my passion for art and design to help people with special needs live a more convenient life in a world where things and spaces are designed for people with healthy bodies. By spending time with them, I learned that common spaces, like bathrooms, are discriminatory and designed for physically healthy people. In this bathroom that I designed, I specifically researched about the problems that the visually impaired encounter in their daily lives to create a sink, moving chair, shower, toilet, and storage space that are specifically geared towards them.
